The Gad showing is located on the east side Red Creek, approximately 15.5 kilometres east- north east of Port Renfrew.

The area is underlain by metasedimentary rocks of the Jurassic to Cretaceous Leech River Complex which has been intruded by diorite (gneissic) to the east. In this vicinity, the metasediments consist of chlorite-sericite schist, phyllitic mudstone, shale, argillite, graphitic schist, iron formation and meta-amphibolite. These beds strike east and dip steeply to the north. The Leech River Complex is bounded by the San Juan fault to the north and the Leech River fault to the south. A number of northeast and northwest crossfaults occur in the area.

Mineralization consists of a narrow extensive band of massive magnetite ("iron formation"?) that outcrops for a length of 2300 metres.

In 1983, a program of prospecting and rock sampling was completed on the GAD claim. Rock samples assayed up to 0.15 per cent copper and from 3.42 to 54.6 per cent iron (Assessment Report 11459).

In 1985 and 1986, Expeditor Resource Group completed a program of geochemical sampling and geological mapping on the area as the HTC 1-2 claims. In 1987 and 1989, Beau Pre Explorations completed a program of ground geophysical surveys and rock sampling. Samples of iron formation (40978 and 40980) assayed 29.9 and 41.6 per cent iron (Assessment Report 17229).
